We can’t keep calling it the In-Season Tournament forever and giving it an actual name helps legitimise it

Call it the NBA Cup or something, saying In-Season Tournament every time is too long

It's going to become the taco bell cup or mountain dew cup or something.

Just give it time, a sponsor will pervert it. Just look at the "Developmental" league.
