Data Hoarder

We are digital librarians. Among us are represented the various reasons to keep data -- legal requirements, competitive requirements, uncertainty of permanence of cloud services, distaste for transmitting your data externally (e.g. government or corporate espionage), cultural and familial archivists, internet collapse preppers, and people who do it themselves so they're sure it's done right. Everyone has their reasons for curating the data they have decided to keep (either forever or For A Damn Long Time (tm) ). Along the way we have sought out like-minded individuals to exchange strategies, war stories, and cautionary tales of failures.

Ok, I just got a Crucial X8 1TB SSD, but that thing came with barely 5inches of usb-c to usb-c cable, which is way too short for the use I have in mind. What I'm worried about is loosing speed if I don't get the proper cables, and there's so many on amazon.ca (did I mention I'M Canadian, please don't blast me with amazon.com links) that I'm lost, which one would keep its speed while not breaking the bank and would be at least 3-4ft long so the disk won't be dangling from my PC only held by the cable (usb-c 3.2 only in front of my tower and I can't reach top of PC to place the disk on with such a short cable)

Similar situation with Samsung T7 I got last month. I now use a 2 feet long usb 3 gen 2x2 cable made by tensility international (digikey.com) and have seen no drop in speed/responsiveness. Any rated cable under 2 meters should keep up.

Thanks, will try to find them on amazon.ca, cause I'm a prime member so shipping is included, 99% of the time when I order something online, the shipping costs make it overpriced, except on amazon with prime.
