Photos of ruins and structures from past eras

What is a ruin? We're running off of "You know it when you see it" at the moment. Ruins should be non-functioning structures of some age, or their function reduced to tourism and the like. Generally speaking, specific items from a ruin should go to HistoryArtifacts@kbin.social Illustrations of ruins (or their reconstructions) should go to HistoryDrawings@kbin.social Photos of ruins back when they were functioning should go to !HistoryPorn@lemmy.world

Thanks for sharing. The pictures don't do justice to just how many antiquity sites there are in and around this place. It's truly impressive to behold in person.

Definitely take your time when you plan a trip, we went there for a week and by the end we were literally running from place to place to cram everything we wanted to see in our remaining time. Also, unless you really don't mind the heat, avoid the busiest and hottest months of summer. Spring and early autumn are amazing though.
