The British seem very happy with keeping the "-tre" ending but pronouncing it "-ter" for centuries.
Not surprising, I think they even mispronounced it in an episode of Futurama. Just a shame because the proper way sounds so much better.

I had custom firmware installed on my PSP and got in trouble for turning the projector on and off on high school.
I was a few years out of HS when those blasters became more wide spread (my HTC M7 had one, though 6 years too late), and how I wish I had one back then.
It was a great time indeed when the popularity of IR blasters overlapped with being in high school.
Aw shit, why didn't I think of this! I too had a PSP with CFW in HS, but I just used it for... totally "backed up"....games lmao

I used to want one of these IR blaster things to kill tvs in waiting rooms, but then earbuds got better and cheaper and more generally useful.
Had a HTC One M8 back in the day. Had a lot of fun confusing the shit out of the teachers after turning off the audio system and projector lmao
Samsung phones at that time also had IR blasters
I miss that and the head phone jack. Oh and replaceable batteries! Popping a new battery you have pre charged was so convenient.

I had a Casio remote control watch that I was actually using all the time in my room. I used it in an evil way only once, since the TV sales guy was showing off how loud the super high-end TV is. As he turned the volume up with a maniacal smile, I just pressed OFF button. New money couple lost interest immediately.
It is Casio CMD-40 for the interested.

Eventually someone must have figured it out because they masked the IR receivers of all TVs with electric tape.

Smart TV 'remote' apps are infinitely worse than an IR blaster
For everyday use, sure, but for trolling they're just excellent!

I always wanted one because I was pretty young when they were putting IR blasters in cell phones and I thought I'd be able to remote control anything like Johnny Five in Short Circuit 2.
I miss my old HTC thunderbolt. Removable storage, IR blaster, removable battery. Phones while they have gotten faster, and the software /cameras improved, the actual phones design has gotten so much worse over the years.

If i had known about all the bloatware samsung shoves into their phones before i got one, it woulda never left the shelf. There are about 5 junk apps in my play store queue right now and was able to uninstall another 4 so they dont show up in the list, but its massively inconvenient to have to do that to begin with. Would rather be allowed to opt out of the stuff out of the box.

I had this watched with a calculator and ir blaster. It was great! I still have it actually
trolling aside, has anybody had any luck with those 3.5mm ir blaster adapters? my phone has a headphone jack but no blaster and i don't have the original remote for my stereo :p
They should work, although you might need to use the app that they provide. I wouldn't be surprised if a random TV remote app didn't work with an audio to IR widget
