Welcome to a Star Trek community where you’re free to chat and share your opinions about all things Trek!

I want to have a place where fans can come to praise, discuss, and even criticise things in the Star Trek franchise. No show or movie is perfect, and I don't believe people should be silenced for having a dissenting opinion. That being said, there are still a few rules.

Be Nice - No personal attacks. You can disagree with someone's opinion, but it needs to stop there.

No Slurs - This is applicable to ethnicity, religion, gender, or anything else.

No Adult Content - Keep it family friendly.

No Spamming or Trolling - Consistently spamming comments or trolling is just not needed.

Please keep topics Trek related or Trek adjacent for the most part, and have fun!

I'm making my way though TNG again. Just watched 5-2 and 5-3 which is Darmok and Ensign Ro.

Yes! Both are definitely on my favorites list. Season 5 is a good season for TNG.

Binging through DS9 every night to go to sleep, but I’ve also been playing Star Trek online for the first time for the past week

DS9 is great! My favorite show by a good margin.

I've always had a bit of a mixed experience with Star Trek Online since I started playing it. It's fun, but the online portion of it tends to put me off after a while. I still end up starting it up a couple of times a year though!

There are so many mission series to get through, that even after having put over 100 hours into it, I’ve barely scratched the surface.

I have no interest in the online element of the game. In my opinion, other people will ruin a game, so I prefer to play alone. That’s why I like the fallout series so much until 76 came along.

Yes, there's an enormous amount of content there!

In most cases I don't like having other people in games either. It's very immersion breaking to have random people running and jumping off of things and who knows what else! Then you inevitably run into the person that just wants to ruin everyone else's day too.

I'm watching a few of my favorite lower decks episodes before the new (and last 😟) season comes out. Do you plan on doing a discussion post for the upcoming episodes?

[–] stargazingpenguin@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah, it's sad that it's ending. I'm looking forward to watching it though!

I had thought about doing a post for the episodes, but I wasn't sure how much interest there would be. I'm going to try it see what happens though!

That would be great. The other two big star trek communities apparently have me or my instance shadowbanned or something. It will let me post or comment something, but it never shows up if I view the community from their instance. I don't usually have a lot to say, but it's no fun to not be able to say anything.

[–] stargazingpenguin@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 weeks ago

That's definitely is no fun. I ran into that with a couple of communities where my first comment never showed up. Some of them cleared up eventually, but if it doesn't you might need to make an account on another instance. Some instances have defederated from each other, so maybe that's part of the issue.

We just finished voyager and now do Picard. Love them, love everything in star trek except the latest movies and.... Wesley crusher 😁

[–] stargazingpenguin@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the Wesley character! I think the writers could have done a lot better. I like most of the Trek related media Wil Wheaton has done other than that though!

[–] Dyskolos@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 weeks ago

Oh yes. That I do too. Not his fault. He sucked it up like a champ.

I'm introducing my wife to Star Trek and we are halfway through the first season of TNG, and I'm watching the second season of the lower decks by myself 🙂

I did the same thing with my spouse right after we got married, except with DS9! They really enjoyed it, and we've gradually been working our way through the rest of Star Trek in between other shows.

It's been a little bit since I've seen it, but I remember Lower Decks season 2 being the point that I started enjoying it a lot more! It can be really good at times.
