Beehaw's community for socialists, communists, anarchists, and non-authoritarian leftists (this means anti-capitalists) of all stripes. A place for all leftist and labor news and discussion, as long as you're nice about it.

Non-socialists are welcome to come to learn, though it's hard to get to in-depth discussions if the community is constantly fighting over the basics. We ask that non-socialists please be respectful and try not to turn this into a "left vs right" debate forum by asking leading questions or by trying to draw others into a fight.

Why are big journals defending the american health industry? I don't buy the idea that they are disconnected. They cannot be blind to the violence of insurances denying health to citizens. I thought they made money with reactions. They are trying to control the reaction, to downplay, to appease.

No matter how violent or illegal Mangione's alleged action was, it feels justified. It sure is an interesting move to tell a deprived population they should just shut up and eat cake. Let's see how that plays out.

Fair doing the work.

I think the news desks were at first shocked at this news and reported it like a normal murder . Almost immediately ‘establishment’ noticed the popular support for him, and moved quickly to control the narrative.

In addition to what has been covered in the this article, we can see almost a blackout on reporting the large and wide spread support for Mangione motives

  • incidentally, we can see how they’ve introduced the idea that any support is just ‘from those online weirdos who think he’s hot’.

Demand away. None should indeed be given for these wealth-hoarding parasites. Gun down more, I say.

We will, when they start showing more sympathy for those who need their services.

Yes please - whenever some out of touch figure or a news page tries to offer condolences or condemn the alleged assassin, it backfires spectacularly no matter what the political leaning of the audience is. It's literally the only thing that unites working class people in Burgerland

They certainly haven't earned it yet.

Mmmm....oooh........sorry, your tax bracket doesn't cover that I'm afraid.

Edit: Better wording of basically the same joke.

Lex Friedman also had a recent podcast episode where his guest kept defending big pharma & insurance. It's insane, his worst interview to date, though I knew for a longtime that he is a sellout.
