The last I heard about Timex Teddy Baldassarre was confused about them being sort of in the middle, because while they have heritage and could make nice watches at an affordable price, he considered their designs are just not good enough to be considered groundbreaking or anything that could catch someone's eye even with their price.

This was something I agreed with personally at the time. But then lately they presented a more expensive watch with a Italian designer I think and it confuses me about their direction. Are they trying to compete with Seiko or with Casio?

Ultimately I think that it ends up being Casio and perhaps Swatch who dominate the entry level market. But is Timex a missed opportunity?

Because some of their watches are surely nice enough for anyone looking to avoid falling into the fashion watches trend.

I love a quartz timex. First watch. Still own one. Love the backlighting that lights up the entire face.

I feel like they have licked it up a bit lately. I also think from what i have seen here that their marketing images are flipping awful and probably renders to boot. I wish they’d commit more to mechanical movements but that’s just personal preference.

They have been doing great stuff lately, got a Waterbury dive auto from them earlier this year, the specs are decent and the dial is super classy, but their QC and alignment would make Seiko blush, they still have some work in front of them in that regard.
