I have zero will to play and lose all my progress if one day The devs changed their minds about Linux like apex so i'll pass this one.

So you wont play any game who's chooses to make their anticheat support Linux, on the premise that they might stop doing that?

This game has been working well since beta. Its also made by the NetEase, the same people as Marvel Rivals, which has made active efforts to work on Linux. They even included a fix specifically for Bazzite in the patch notes.

9 in-game currencies. Looks like it's a typical "you'll make zero progress for free, this game is designed to catch whales" kinda game.

Edit: Also has a kernel-level anti-cheat that causes your whole OS to freeze.

Getting 120fps in the tutorial on steam deck, pretty impressive

An issue I have observed on my desktop though is that the mouse likes to leave the screen. I had to set it to Fullscreen, instead of a Borderless Window to get around the issue.

People are still playing on borderless windowed?

Borderless windowed is not the same on Linux as it is on Windows. It doesn't make a difference.

Why wouldn't/shouldn't I????

People still actually use question marks

Input lag, performance issues and mouse bounds. AFAIK that's still a thing

I alt tab too much I guess to my second monitor. And most games are decent enough to hold the mouse captive (can't remember the right verbiage) while in the game

I've always played borderless. Games keep the mouse in, not noticed performance issues or input lag. Makes alt+tab instant.

This video from a while ago found more than 30ms input lag and fps inconsistencies. I'm also reading Directx 12 is optimizing borderless fullscreen and after a quick search did not find new tests.

In post the author did tests and found that it mathers less then it used to, but windows Aero is still running extra composition cycles.

From personal experience I can tell you I've flicked out of bounds many times clicking outside of the game making it lose focus and losing a gunfight because of borderless windowed. YMMV

Idk 30ms sounds perfectly acceptable to me

[–] kernelle@0d.gs 2 points 1 day ago

For anything but fast paced, sure maybe, for competitive shooters like this article, absolutely unacceptable. Input lag gets noticeable past 10ms. Jarring past 20ms. Combine that with frame timing inconsistency and more screen tearing, I guess ya'll like watching slideshows.

Apparently border less windowed is the only one where AMD FSR3 works.

I do in an ultra wide because I like to also have YouTube, music or something.

[–] kernelle@0d.gs 1 points 2 days ago

It used to add quite a bit of input lag and take a hit on performance, and you could always flick the mouse out of the game like in this article. Tbh it was so jarring I haven't tried it in probably a decade.
