From that original clip I thought maybe Nurk gave him a left elbow in the ribs or something we couldn't see from that angle.

But nope, that's a foul for AD stepping on Nurk's foot, and the baseline ref who made the call had a perfect view of it.

I thought maybe Nurk gave him a left elbow in the ribs or something

But he did, slightly. There's an elbow bump, it's just the question of how much force was behind it

There's an elbow bump, it's just the question of how much force was behind it

the elbow literally stayed close to nurk's body and his hand were up the whole time not sure how you can muster enough force using your elbow in that position to push down a 200lbs 7ft athlete.

AD walked into Nurkic's elbow. Is Nurkic not supposed to have elbows?

That's not a foul on AD lol. Maybe a travel tho. If not then out of bounds Suns ball.

[–] sewsgup@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

hard to see from this angle but was this bc he has 2 hands on AD?

you're only allowed one I thought

edit: no, replay confirms its just a bad call

To clarify though, simply having your hands on a player is not a foul unless the ref determines the contact to be more than "incidental." You have to effect their movement with that contact for it to be a foul, and that is 100% a judgement call made by the refs.

When people wonder why guys throw their arms around and act like they took a heavy hit, it's to sell that the contact they took had an actual effect on their movement.

The only contact that is supposed to be called no matter what is on the arm of a shooter during their shooting motion.

[–] klavak@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is it. It's not just that the refereeing is always bad, it's that the rules are so vague and left to the referee's judgement that the referees make up the rules as they go

Lakers so desperate they beed to be in post-season form for flopping

This game had awful flow from the number of calls. What happened to the start of the season two years ago where it really seemed like they were going in a more “let them play” direction?

[–] NoChanceNoProblem@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Uhh flopping fine? If they are gonna be reviewing entire games and doing fines post game can we at least be consitent with it.

[–] dash_44@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He didn’t flop. AD stepped on Nurks foot and almost rolled his own ankle into oblivion

[–] Big_East_Cat@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Me too, Nurk. Me too.

[–] dbgager@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

AD looked like he just fell down.Should have been a flop.

[–] Mygaffer@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It happens quick but did Nurk put both hands on AD's back?

[–] Easy_Money343@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Fucked up my whole parlay cuz he was sitting so long

[–] sleepyfox1312@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

refs in midseason form already

[–] PristineTrouble2038@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

this sport is rigged af

[–] DrJayDubs@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Lakers fans are clowns for cheering for this charmin soft mfer

[–] AtlantaSun91@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Classic Anthony Davis flop. The refs love him. He had an incredible game though.

[–] SonofNamek@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You can see AD laughing

[–] RidiculousNickk@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Man this can’t be what this sport has come to

[–] Dangerous-Fan4594@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is so egregious. AD is a professional flopper.

[–] dontusethisforwork@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

We played like shit and deserved to lose that game but the officiating was so lopsided.

KD gets fucking hammered at the perimeter every time he gets the ball and never gets calls for it, and otherwise there were a few really soft calls on Suns players that were nothingburger contact.

[–] MazKhan@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

AD also gets fouled on every post up, they're not gonna call every foul. If they did Lebron would be at the line way more

Also they called more fouls on the Lakers overall

[–] Gabaloo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Ref thought he still played for the blazers

[–] BoSuns@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

My man, we're the Suns, we were bottom 3 in calls in our favor, and top 3 in calls against us last year. It's been this way for a long time.

We are not the team that gets favorable calls.

[–] Particular_Vast247@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

This is a fine cherry picked bit, but Nurk earns his calls often. He's really loose with his screens, and he gets fired up when he thinks it's a bad call (PS he almost always thinks it's a bad call), so he spends the game behind the count and becomes an easy drive target.

[–] notBornIn_eighties@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Imagine making multiple comments to sh*t on Nurkic, in a situation where he clearly wasn't at fault, and which reminds people of similar situations that happened to him, just to tell people that your annoyances with him are justified.

[–] Losalou52@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is a flop.

[–] angel2timez@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is a pretty common foul when the offensive player trips or steps on the defenders foot. I wouldnt be mad that AD got the same call regardless if the foul itself makes sense or not

[–] Anaviosi@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Alright you absolute nephews, you clearly don't understand what's going on in this play. Nurkic tapped into his secret powers and utilized a Force Push technique on this play. This foul was deserved. In fact, I think a suspension might be warranted.

[–] mrobin4850@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

So the whole calling flops experiment is going well I see.

[–] needmoresleeep@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

AD stepped on Nurkic’s foot and lost his balance. Wasn’t a flop. Wasn’t necessarily a foul either.

[–] hoops_n_politics@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is crap - but we weren’t winning this game anyway. On to the next one.

[–] juicewar01@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

AD has always been a bane to Nurkic existence. He always plays bad vs AD.

[–] Impossible-Island-78@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Simon Biles could cover AD in the post.

[–] NecroCock@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Absolutely disgraceful

[–] ace_alive@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

That‘s a flop. Didn‘t they adapt the FIBA rule against this for this NBA season ?

[–] D1am0nd91@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He wasn't assessed a flopping fine learning from his boy Bron Bron? Okogie got shoved in the back 2 hands the Warriors game and fell forward with decent momentum. Who is calling these no call fouls?

[–] LoWE11053211@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Lebron is right

They are not a flopping team

[–] bypassmorecomments@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

AD looking angrily at the ref is just comical. Lakers cannot win anything without help from the refs.

[–] Born-Direction3937@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

And that mofo with the whistle was right there. So tired of these nba scripts

[–] lounging_expert@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

AD is so crazy uncoordinated. I think the unibrow really puts him off balance.
