I’ve been thinking about buying a Laco pilot watch.

I’ve been wanting to buy a pilot watch for some time. I read the story of the 5 chosen in World War II to manufacture military watches and Laco was one of them in Germany. They have a basic model that costs €340 with a Laco 2S (Miyota 82S0) but you can add an upgrade to a Laco 31 (Miyota 8315) for €55 more. Should I choose Laco, or another brand for the price? And is the upgrade worth it?

I bought one a couple of weeks ago, the exact model in the picture but the one at 340€. While I don't use it daily, I really think it's gorgeous and looks quite well built for a watch of this price. At the end why I chose this brand is really because I wanted a inexpensive, nice pilot watch, and this watch ticked all the boxes.

Thank you, I think I will buy it. But do you have the type B or A?

Laco is a very good brand

The hour hand covers the hour numerals rather than pointing to them.

Considering buying an Augsburg blue hour 39. IWC looks from a brand with real heritage.

OT: I can see an option where the brand can be removed through the Laco & Stowa website. Just wanted to see everyone's opinion if you would rather prefer a brandless dial, or would you prefer to keep the brand?

No logo, no date for me. It looks cleaner, and the brand is stated somewhere after all, like on the back of the case.

Laco is a very respectable brand with a great history.

I have the Aachen 42 with the upgraded movement and it’s wicked nice. If you want an OG flieger under $500, Laco is definitely the way to go. At ~$1.5k Stowa gets in the mix too but Laco has options too.

My only issues with it are that the stock leather strap is a little plasticy and I’d prefer a Miyota 9xxx movement without a ghost date and a better sweep.

I'm a big fan of their Flieger Pro and how you can really customize it to your liking.

I got the intro type A in 39mm. It's usually my daily and I love it. The pro model looks wonderful

Laco was my first “expensive” watch when I bought it at $400 or so. I wanted a pilot watch with some heritage and it’s a unique dial you don’t see every day. It doesn’t get much wrist time now as my tastes have changed, but it’s a watch I’ll never sell.
