In loving this sort of alternate reality we're getting to see with these ports. What if GTA3 made it to the Dreamcast? What if Doom for 32X were more optimized and had better development? What if the power of the N64 was better understood when Mario 64 came out?
All these scenarios and many more are playing out thanks to some wonderful projects. I look forward to seeing how Wipeout might have looked on a console that so badly wanted to be a part of the PSX/Saturn/N64 battle.
Wipeout was one of the few games that made me want to play it from the moment I first saw it.
The concept was novel, the graphics were beautiful, how all the ships moved and reacted (in game physics) seemed a level above.
Never played it, unfortunately.
If there was a port for PC, under linux, I'd do my best to get it, today.
My local game store had a PS1 with wipeout in a demo cabinet. I hung out there for hours playing
Wip30ut was the reason I bought a PS1. Amazing game that still holds up.
Hooooo please have the same music… the game was a banger but the music was perfection. I still listen to those acid tracks regularly :)
