Home automation is the residential extension of building automation.

It is automation of the home, housework or household activity.

Home automation may include centralized control of lighting, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), appliances, security locks of gates and doors and other systems, to provide improved convenience, comfort, energy efficiency and security.

Hello,

I have a rather general question. I have the following plan:

I want to use a smart switch to close the garage door when I have parked my car in my garage and come into the living room. The switch should be in the living room. Does anyone know anything about this and can tell me if it is possible?

My garage has a smart garage door opener from Meross.

I was thinking of something like this for the switch:

https://www.amazon.com/BSEED-Function-Assistant-Multi-Control-Association/dp/B0BKT29QYT/ref=sr_1_13?crid=8VO51SUROT47&keywords=touch%2Bswitch&qid=1699727822&sprefix=touch%2Bswitch%2Caps%2C173&sr=8-13&th=1

Can anyone help me with this?

Yolink seems to work pretty good for garage door automation.

Yes, that's certainly possible - you would just create an automation in Home Assistant that toggled the garage door when the switch is pressed. A switch like that is designed to replace to replace a regular light switch, so when you trigger the switch it's also going to trigger whatever that switch is wired to. You want to make sure that switch works with Home Assistant - most do, but if you can get something that runs Tasmota or ESPHome then you will know you have something that works with HA and is fully local rather than depending on a dodgy cloud service.

If you want something that operates independently of the light switch, there are a bunch of Zigbee battery-powered switches that work well if you have a Zigbee dongle on your HA box. I have had good luck with these if you use the Home Assistant blueprint for them: https://www.amazon.com/Aqara-WXKG11LM-Switch-Wireless-Remote/dp/B07D19YXND/ref=sr_1_12?crid=31P95EAUGD369&keywords=home+assistant+scene+controller&qid=1699888273&sprefix=home+assistant+scene+controller%2Caps%2C97&sr=8-12
