Kenny Beecham said it best about 70% of nba “fans” don’t really like the game but the drama that’s attached to it.
NBA - Main
Game analysis, highlights and everything else that is happening in the NBA.
Yeah I really hate seeing the very common comment
“The nba is just soap opera for men”
Uhhhh not for me? I’m actually here because I like basketball? And watching talented athletes compete?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to say that ‘drama’ isn’t interesting or something I’m so ‘above’
But my interest in a drama is usually how that will affect the teams chance of winning a title
Turning into? This has always been the case of this sub lol.
Lol 🤓
Oh man don’t remind me…
The hate machines really got rolling then, I think at one point around the kings series there were multiple front page posts that were basically just “draymonds a bitch” with people echoing in the comments.
After the whole Sabonis thing, right? Yeah, I remember that. Shit, I remember a lot of people on this sub lost their mind with Draymond in the finals in 2022 against Boston after Al Horford and Derrick White shot crazy from three, almost 50 percent together in a game. In the postgame interview, Draymond was basically just saying he's not worried about them shooting like that again, and a majority of dudes were heated over him saying that and calling him a disrespectful player for saying that.
That's just how a lot of people on this sub are, to be honest. You can't really fault them because many of them don't actually watch games. They just watch highlights and box score watch
It'd be really easy to fix but I doubt they'll do anything until the alternative subs start doing better numbers.
r/justbasketball is r/nba minus hate posts and circlejerk but still pretty new and only has 20K subs.
r/nbadiscussion has a decent number of members (480K) but no game/highlight threads and no player comparisons so not really a threat to what most people come here for.
It’s not just here. The majority of people willing to spend hours commenting on Reddit/Twitter/Facebook have lost purpose in life.
When your entire life is self hatred you need to exert that hatred outward to avoid explosion. It’s sad but a symptom of larger issues.
I’m not ashamed to admit I’m a casual.
My baby brother is really into basketball, he’s like a D1 prospect and shit. So I just come on here to stay updated, that way I can have a little more in common with him.
