Still, his colleague, Virgil Scardina, says they count themselves lucky. “I get to go home and hug my kid,” he said. “These guys don’t. And they don’t deserve that.”

"Given what you know now will you vote against trump and the GOP in all races coming up?" - reporter probably

"Absolutely not! The GOP will always have my vote!" - this Roofing company owner probably

im deeply confused as to how this isnt the standard follow-up.. "would you change your vote if you could?" and "will you continue to vote for the party that has these policies in their platform?"

[–] matlag@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

"Well... if they promise that this time it will be different and they will only deport criminals and not the others..."

He’s not actually upset about his staff being kidnapped, he’s just upset about his own bank account

Trump voter gets choked

[–] Reygle@lemmy.world 21 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

OH NO
anyway

Edit: Just realized this could be misunderstood. The above sarcasm was in the "fuck you, leopards at your face because you and others voted for leopards who eat faces" kind of way.

Scardina says he voted for Trump and still supports many of the former president’s policies, but this isn’t what he signed up for. “Buyer’s remorse? I don’t know, a little bit.”

Lessons learned: 0

Party supported in next election: republiQan

You had no idea that something like this might happen, huh?

So the world gets to suffer now, because you leaned into and voted for chaos.

Two in the thoughts, one in the prayers, you asshole.

I think a tinier violin is needed in this case?

[–] Septimaeus@infosec.pub 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Figures the tardigrade would prefer a cello.

That is a cello. It's just that the microscopic cello shop has a poor selection so it had to opt for a too small cello

Schadenfreude 😈

When you meet a person like this, it's tempting and easy to insult them, but that is not the way forward. They will only double down...

They need non judgemental discussions, to make them start exercise their brain for real.

[–] RedSeries@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 1 day ago (4 children)

For people like this? About the only way I care if they exercise their brain is if it's plastered on the wall behind them. I, and a lot of others, are far past the point of "kumbaya, let's all be friends and forgive". They've taken more than they can ever repair and I wish for nothing but the worst for them for as long as they are alive. If they decide to be informed or not is immaterial. Their feefees mean jack and shit.

Whether intentional or not they voted to inflict this pain on others, to destroy the lives of hardworking innocent immigrants and to usher in a police state. They need to come to terms with that and sincerely abandon the platform before any forgiveness or healing can happen

9 times out of 10 there is no rehabilitation for these people. Focus your time and energy on more fruitful endeavors.

Lol. What next? Showing empathy for ICE agents who go above and beyond to torture foreigners?

[–] danekrae@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Yes, not insulting people certainly can be a slippery slope...

And not sounding judgemental while making them come to terms with their stupidity, can be hard.

[–] SebaDC@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Lol. Who talked about insulting anyone? You're the only one insulting them by calling them stupid. I talked about empathy.

And it doesn't sound like any of these people "come to term with their stupidity". If they did and recognized their mistakes, I would show empathy and maybe even sympathy.

They are not stupid. They are hiding their nazis thoughts but it shows when they vote. We should prevent them from voting though.

I share your view. I hold back my desire for schadenfreude by realising that the greatest punishment would be if they grew to understand the harms of their actions and views. Empathy can hurt like a bitch

You're right, and I hope the people near this guy do that - just like I hope we all, if we confront this situation, act like human beings with empathy, to be better than them.

For this, though, on the internet where this guy will never see it, some schadenfreude is totally in order.
