72h Samsonite 38L suitcase is 1.8kg and super durable. Buy a packable/foldable daybag like Matador onGrid 16L and you are good to go.

Depends completely on your needs. I prefer a small check-in luggage and a backpack in the cabin with all the electronics. I mostly move around with cars and never have a problem carrying a luggage. If you want to move more freely you might wanna choose a backpack.
i don't know how to put all these executive decisions in one basket. i've been doing it for years.
Did wheeled suitcase and small rucksack last time when there was two of us. Broke twice on dodgy roads in SEAsia. This time round I'm doing big rucksack as it's not going to break walking off a pavement and it's nice to have hands free carrying. Smaller backpack on the front for tech which comes in the cabin and is also a daybag if needs be.
Take luggage cubes! Really helps in keeping your things sorted and also compressing them in the luggage if you’re low on space.
