I'm thinking of trying the digital nomad life in 2024 and was wondering what are some safe countries for women with a cost of living of around 1,000 USD or 1,500 USD?

The countries on my list for now are: Taiwan, Malaysia, Bali, and Thailand. However, I am open to other countries.

Thank you all!

Argentina or Chile!

You could do Argentina or Chile especially if you're willing to do shared housing such as a room in an airbnb or a hostel. private airbnbs are 40 to 50 usd a night for something really nice. I would definitely consider them. I'm in argentina now.

None. You're always the victim.

Argentina is an option for sure.

10-15K is definitely not enough for taiwan. If you can afford taiwan, you can afford japan and hong kong which are ‘notoriously expensive’ in Asia

Balkan countries like Serbia, Croatia, Romania are very safe for women and you could manage to make a decent living with that kind of income in these countries.

Romania has minim salary requirements of €3700/mo. Croatia - €2300/mo. For an extended stay in Serbia you should also make at least $3500/mo. Moreover, Croatia at summer time is pretty expensive if you plan to live by the beach.

Many Serbians live on €500 a month; apartments are as little as €150 in smaller towns. Apartments in Belgrade start at €300 and many Serbians in Belgrade live on €1000 a month. €2000 a month is considered a very comfortable lifestyle.
There is no income requirement to obtain residency in Serbia.

Plese read under the Minimum Income Requirements title here https://citizenremote.com/visas/serbia/

So that's pretty expensive for just a year-long visa. Even Spain has lighter salary expectations for DNV applicants of €2520 and Spain is more comfortable by far.

Currently in Serbia and the male gaze is real. The flirting is not place or situation dependent, it just happens anytime and anywhere. It is also not age restrictive. I've had men approach me from early 20s to early 70s. I had several experiences of husbands flirting with me right in front of their wives which made me feel very uncomfortable. Questioning a woman's competence is common, specially by uneducated men. Since being here close to a year now I noticed that I go out of the house less and do my best to conduct my business only with women or through women.

According to your post history, you have a problem with all men, not just the ones in Serbia.

When I said safe, I meant physically safe, not feelings safe. Many Serbian women who are looking for a partner actually have the opposite problem-they complain no one approaches them.

I was a Singaporean who migrated to Australia.

If I would ever move back to Asia, it would definitely be to Malaysia. There are so much opportunities, LCOL, good infrastructure, good food, lots of places to go to during your downtime. And if you are a foreigner, you won't really stick out as there is a huge expat community there.

I recommend the Philippines! Low cost and safe for women (I’m a single female digital nomad) and have visited a few times but have lived for 6 months as an adult as well.

Japan, especially if you're okay with cubical hotels and if you have a rail pass.
