Let's take last night's OKC v GS game for example. Chet hits a buzzer beater 3 to tie the game and send it into OT. Amazing. People on the court and at home watching their TVs are going wild.

Video: https://streamable.com/9oke28

But then 0.001 seconds after the shot: "His foot was on the line though I think" (and clearly it wasn't).

This particular guy does it like every single time. I don't know who he is but he has this dumb habit of trying to put doubt in the viewer's head immediately after something great happens. I've absolutely heard him go "BUT WAS IT A 3!?" in similar situations where it was indisputably a 3. He does it just to be a dick.

Steph could drop a full court shot and this idiot would still be like "bUt WaZ hIs fOoT bEhInD tHe LiNe!?"

Like shut the fuck up and let people enjoy the moment unless you're 100% sure

ngl our announcers arent the best, even our fans, myself included get annoyed by them, but honest question why do people watch the warriors broadcast instead of the other teams?

[–] hotterpocketzz@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I live in the bay so if they're on at a bar/resturant and they have the sound playing its ggs for my ears and sanity.

This is actually one of the reasons I’m pretty lukewarm on Breen. Constantly casting doubt on otherwise great moments. We joke on here about “ref fans” but I’m legitimately convinced Breen is one. He loves drawing attention to them immediately after a player does something incredible.

This just in: NBA team’s hometown announcers are biased toward the team they cover!

More about this breaking world-altering story after this short commercial break!

[–] Obi2@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

That is not always the case. There are a number of mostly non-biased and just fun commentating teams. Pacers and surprisingly the Lakers have great teams.

[–] ElTuco84@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Not all of them, you probably haven't watched MSG broadcasts.

[–] kchristainsen@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Agreed, and it happens in all sports now. Replay has ruined the "moment"

Warriors and Celtics announcers are borderline impossible to listen, fun teams to watch play but always skip their teams broadcast

[–] Wild_Particular4003@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Warriors announcers suck from what I hear

[–] MayoBenz@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

It’s warriors announcers lol what do you expect ? They were saying draymond was in the right and just defending Klay against the wolves last week lmao

[–] AJ91022@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The Hornets are so lucky to have Curry and Collins. They definitely root for the hornets but they also will acknowledge and appreciate awesome performances in general.

I hate announcers or analysts who say, "OH shots fired!" or something lame like that whenever someone tells a joke. Or whenever someone says, "That's gonna go viral" after an interesting moment. Damn let the moment breathe

[–] pifflord2@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

After watching the video...my god that was a bad one lmao

Just pure fuckin salt and denial instantly. Didn't even humor the idea that he made an incredible game tying shot...fuckin ruined the moment. Id literally rather watch on mute than hear warriors announcers

[–] FallaciousRationale@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Yep.

It's hard to watch a game from Warriors feed. Too much homerism.

[–] briefchief@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

A suggestion: watch basketball on mute with the subtitles on and listening to music. Drowns out the stupid ads and annoying commentators. Honestly its more fun To watch basketball without all the ridiculous context. When a commentator adds something to a moment it usually shows up on the highlights and you can hear it there

[–] BostonKarlMarx@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I feel the opposite. Its always fun hearing the opposing team cope

[–] Emera1dthumb@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I wouldn’t let it get to you….. it’s just the game

[–] victorspoilz@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Mike Breen is great but still wrecked Tatum's G1 buzzer beater over BKN in 2022 RD 1, "They're waiving it off!!!"

[–] mercfan3@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I’ve also noticed that commentators tend to question the calls that are in favor of one of the teams playing the others.

An obvious example is when a team is playing the Lakers. Like, any time a questionable call goes in favor of the other team - the commentators will usually say it’s a bad call. And they won’t even mention the refs calls for the Lakers. It’s like they are trying to give the impression that the refs are calling in favor of the other team..

(And it doesn’t just happen when a team is playing against the Lakers. It’s just whatever team the commentators are obviously rooting for…)

[–] ImperialTiger3@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I’ve said this plenty of times, if I wasn’t a warriors fan I’d hate our announcers. They show the most bias out of all of them. Like I get that the teams announcers should have a degree of bias, but you shouldn’t avoid or downplay what the other team does. Even when they do give props to the opponent, they make it feel like they’re doing them the biggest favor in the world.

[–] Zeusforprez@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Every announcer does this from time to time, but the greats only do it once or twice. For example Mike Breen did it for the Tatum buzzer beater against the Nets in 2021. He talked about mad it made him last year.

[–] mc3hunna@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I sincerely miss Jim Barnett because he would have such a neutral stance to whatever play is happening. He would call out mistakes by the warriors and compliment what the opponent would be doing well be it a skill set or move they would do. Really balance out the homerism from fitz.

[–] agentdoubleohio@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Contrarian, gonna need to get the dictionary for this one.

[–] ImRightShutUp1@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

What do you expect watching home team broadcast lol I’d understand your frustration if it was TNT/ESPN broadcast but you literally linked a Warriors broadcast?
