Looking to purchase a watch for around 8k for myself. Currently looking at these 4 primarily but can’t decide. I am open to suggestion for other watches around 8k or below. Please let me know if any of these watches should be avoided for a specific reason. I am not really looking g to resell the watch later on so price retention or premium isn’t a concern for me. Thank you.

I have a Gulf dial Monaco and love it, but it's thick (and almost wears thicker than it is due to the case shape). I'd pick the Omega for an everyday watch and get a more colorful Monaco later for a fun watch.

Breitling looks cool too!

Santos for me

[–] Brad69108@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Cartier. No other. Just get it. Do it now.

[–] Wild_Slide_303@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

There is no info for your lifestyle preferences but Cartier is my pick - classy, works with a suit or jeans/t-shirt, slim, metal bracelet that matches any clothing

[–] freethebox@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’d go for the omega personally.

You can get it for a lot less than the Cartier and it’s a better daily.

The shiny flat bezel on the Cartier will scratch if you breath on it.

I wouldn’t consider the other two watches.

I feel Cartier is the most unique watch. It really stands out. I absolutely love the seemlessness In the design .

[–] twofires@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The Cartier. Not many watches are recognisable from across the street without being gaudy. It's just gorgeous.

[–] SubstantialTop2995@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The Cartier is going to be my top suggestion, its a very classy watch that can also be dressed down and up.

Close second is the Omega, Dive watches are great everyday watches since they are made to a higher standard than regular watches, it makes them tougher than the usual watch and can be dressed up and down. I would recommend to purchase a bracelet along with that one.

Then the Breitling, this speaks to the car guy in me, having the Shelby American Cobra logo on it is just a bonus.

Finally the Tag/Heuer, This also speaks the to car guy in me, basically any panda style chronograph will do that. This has heritage though, the Monaco is a race car drivers watch.

Santos or Monaco, the others are totally replaceable by something else in the future for cheaper.

Bottom left is killer

[–] santacow@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I like the reverse panda on the Monaco

Do you own any other watches in your collection? The safe bet is the SM or Santos and i would imagine majority would say this. The Santos is probably the most versatile since you can change out bracelet and straps but I’ve never personally owned one but seems to be one watch many recommend.

I have owned a SM300 in the past - nice watches but the HEV I didnt like to ended up with a 1957 SM Trilogy which I enjoyed a lot.

Unless you have a specific tie to Cobra or own one then I’d pass on the Brietling. They have some other options which i personally think are nice but never owned which is the B09 Chronograph with pistachio dial but again never owned one.

Finally the Monaco - personally the dial variation shown probably isnt my fave - I would lean to the older Heuer dials with the Calbre 11 movement. I’ve owned the grey Heuer and that was one of my all time favourite watches. It is a little thick but it is such a fun watch and has rich history.

Definitely recommend trying them all on and seeing which one you connect with the most and that should be the one you get.

Good luck!

Omega for sure! It look gorgeous

[–] Francy088@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I don't know a lot about these watches in particular, but I think that the chronograph in the bottom left corner is the one that can suit most occasions. It can be dressy and it can be sporty, it has a cool complication but isn't too eye-catching.

Based only on these (superficial) parameters, I'd go for the chronograph. But, in general, I think you should buy the watch that you think you would wear more often than all the others.

[–] Xnagibat0rX@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Wtf 8k??? You could buy a Rolex with this why spend it on a tag or omega

[–] RU33ERBULLETS@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Swap the Top Time for a Navitimer and the Monaco for a Glassbox or 42mm Carrera and play again.

[–] Cuddlewitcorpses@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’d go with the Omega. I personally think the Santos are ugly as hell. The other two are ok.

[–] LockMyWorld@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I like the breitling

[–] HunterMajors@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Cartier is my one of my grail watches so 100% bias for the santos

[–] Aware_Spirit330@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Try them on and decide for yourself!

[–] _sCouraGe_@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Love the Breitling

[–] John_Doe12333@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Santos all day

[–] Shepinion@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Decide which of these watches you like the most. They’re all very easy to try on (if you live near a big city) and pick your favorite. They’re 4 completely different watches. Almost as different as can be. Comically so

[–] ArtChance5057@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
[–] taizzle71@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Out of those smp300

[–] WindowTW@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The Monaco looks slick in person

[–] M4verickPL@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Cartier definitely. It has amazing Legacy and timeless design. It's classy and sporty at the same time. Omega is less classy and more sporty but I dislike the hev. The Omega bracelet is bulky and I dislike the whole Bond watch connotation

[–] watchale_wey@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Personally, I’d go with the Cartier. I already have an Omega, I’m not a Breitling fan, and I keep swearing to stop getting chronometers.

There is a lot of variety here, and without knowing more about you, it's hard to give you a rec.

I don't like the way the santos looks on my wrist, but my buddy wears one every day and it looks awesome. It's a really cool and unique look, but you have to know whether you like it for yourself.

In this regard, the omega is probably the safest and most practical. In my opinion, it is also the most boring. However, it would probably be my second choice after the breitling. Breitling has more flair than the omega but is still practical every day.

I love the Monaco. I think it is the coolest of all the watches pictured here. I love the history of the watch, the unique design and the tie to Breaking Bad. I've never tried one on, but I think it would look hilariously dumb on me. I have 6.75' wrist.

[–] Diebymee@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

None of these watches should be bought for 8k. You can find them NOS or mint on the grey market for 6k or even less.

Now there so différent that for me the choice should be easy.

IF iI had to choose and had no other watches, i would get the santos and buy it for around 5.5k not more.

[–] Christmas_Panda@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Cartier is the most versatile in my opinion. You can dress it up to a tuxedo or down to sweats at home.

[–] InsideAbalone4385@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Omega Seamaster all day.. can dress it up and down and has the best movement out of all the options you chose.

[–] Necastiva_Sila@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Easy, Seamaster!

[–] wozzy93@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Omega but I would go for the Monaco if I were to choose from the four.

You can’t go wrong with either of them. I have all brands except TAG. Build quality is excellent with Breitling, Cartier and Omega (can’t judge TAG tough). Out of these 4 I would probably go for 1. Cartier, 2. Omega, 3. TAG, 4. Breitling. Breitling is my favourite brand besides Rolex and then comes Omega and Cartier but I don’t really enjoy your listed model. I would go for the Chronomat, Navitimer or Superocean Heritage.

[–] seanightowl@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I works go with the Omega.

[–] Ok_Form_134@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Imo the Seamaster in general is the best GADA watch on that list. My only comment would be to get the milanese on it. The black on black rubber would be hard to take formal. Imo I'd go for a stainless reference over the titanium. And don't listen to the hate on the bracelets - they're fantastic.

I think the Santos is the most iconic watch on that list, but it'll get bunged up way more than the Seamaster and isn't something I'd wear as a GADA.

[–] Domestic_AA_Battery@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Omega, Breitling, Cartier, Tag
