The Memphis Grizzlies are currently selling tickets for as low as $2 per seat. They are averaging the 5th worst attendance in the league at 16, 833 which is worse than half of the Vancouver Grizzlies seasons almost 30 years ago when average attendance league wide was much lower than now.

Am I still petty that Memphis took our team? Absolutely.

But I can also guarantee you'd be hard pressed to find tickets to a Vancouver NBA game for the price of a quarter of a water at Rogers Arena. Not to mention I'm positive that Vancouver could do better than the 5th worst attendance in the league.

I look forward to seeing salty Memphis fans in my DMs, but just remember you would be frustrated too if a worse market stole you're NBA team, and then showed poor support to an actually talented team.

There are plenty of grizzlies in Canada already. In fact their numbers are increasing steadily. So much so that they're encroaching on people's land and taking their food and even grizzly attacks have gone up a bit.

Vancouver lost their team bc no one cared. Nothing has changed. Same with Seattle. There’s a reason those teams left. Can’t have revisionist history bc you have sour grapes

[–] PorousSurface@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Cover tickets would easily sell like triple Memphis’s prices

[–] choomgangpakalolo@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Another day, another post in r/nba shitting on our team and/or advocating for them to be relocated. No fucking clue what’s up with this delusional hatred towards us here. I would say the shit is starting to get old but it’s been lame as fuck for awhile now.

I always love when people who have no clue what happened in Vancouver back when we had our team decide to offer their pearls of wisdom.

Team was the worst in NBA history yet still bought tickets at a higher rate than would be expected. We were totally screwed by unfair lottery rules, prima donna idiot players who thought they'd have to buy a dog sled team to get around the snowy climes and refused to play, and at the end outright fraud as numerous companies that wanted to buy thousands of season tickets were literally denied them, because selling tickets hurt the narrative of 'we have to move because no one is buying tickets'.

Lmao good luck convincing the city of Memphis and it’s community. Memphis loves its Grizzlies

[–] ShamelesslyRuthless@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Oakland loved the Raiders, that didn't stop the team from moving now did it? Didn't stop the Warriors or the As from leaving either. They couldn't care less about the fans if you're not buying tickets

[–] LadySniperSwagg@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Oh no we still have affordable tickets because we haven’t priced out our fans 😔. Also let’s not act like the Grizzlies don’t have some of the most loyal/diehard fans in the league.

Speaking of market. Memphis is a basketball city. We are always around top 5 in ratings when it comes to the finals/tournament.

[–] Hellyeahdud3@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Fuck Canada. Especially China Canada.

[–] Aaaaaaandyy@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

That’s what nets tickets looked like their last few years in NJ. Wasn’t a surprise to most that they moved.

Memphian here. I knew our poverty stricken town couldn’t really support an nba team. We make a lot of noise, but…

[–] new_skool91@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The Grizzlies bring a net of $225 million a year into the Memphis economy from outside and support the equivalent of 1200 full time jobs, but keep cooking bro.

[–] LeanMrfuzzles@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Grizzlies belong to Memphis. They’ve been in Memphis almost four times longer than they were in Vancouver for.

[–] TheComeupnba@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

My God would I love to live in the Memphis area lol. Wouldn't miss a game
Like what the actual fuck?? I'm paying more than double for freaking Bundesliga Basketball (Germany). This seems freaking insane.

[–] Tawj21@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Half of the Grizzlies have been hurt all season, and let’s be real. Nobody is watching the grizzlies until Ja gets back.

[–] NorthernExplorer_@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Canucks games are half full you think people will go see basketball? Although a million people a year entering the country might be enough to fill a game.

[–] LoveIslandFansRawk@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Memphis should keep the Grizzlies, but Vancouver should get a team back along with Seattle and Vegas

[–] Any-Zebra-7622@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Please take the grizzly’s back to Vancouver. The state of Tennessee has to foot the bill for them to be here. If the arena doesn’t sell out the cost is covered by the state. They don’t have any other things to draw people to the town.

Nashville has same issue with their nfl team but tourists buy the tickets for their teams. And the state still foots the bills.

[–] reggiemilleristrash@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The pork ribs and grits in Vancouver are shit.

[–] Bigblankstare@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Why go back to Vancouver?

So you can charge $100 CAD per ticket and "wonder" why no one comes to your games?

[–] FadeawayFas@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago
[–] springerdinger21@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

This probably has something to do with some dude named morant being out.

Grizzlies were not exactly popular in Vancouver.

Taking a franchise away from a traditionally black city would not be a good look either.

[–] ColinHalter@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I've always said to give upstate New York either the Knicks or the nets. NYC doesn't need both. Buffalo could easily sell out NBA games.

[–] james_bongd@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Make Wizards Bullets again

[–] Tengoatuzui@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Two dollar seats maybe cause no Ja and squad sucks. But yes bring a team to Vancouver

[–] FarMalicious@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Dang the seats closest to the court to watch them play against Luka and Kyrie is $100. What a good deal!

[–] volubleBurner@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Oakland needs a team since every team left town. Oakland Grizzlies has a good ring to it.

[–] ThlammedMyPenis@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Well it's the fault of a small group of rich men. Remember who you're really mad at

[–] dawgz525@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

what are Canada's gun laws like?

[–] NickRoweFillea@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Imagine criticizing a team based on how affordable it is to go to games lol. Cry more

[–] WranglerFormer@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

As a grizzlies fan, you can go fuck yourself

[–] 77rozay@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Canadians would be too scared to be under the same roof as Ja.

[–] ScienceDeniesYou@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Mmmm, no thanks.

[–] cottonmane8@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The NBA should move the Grizzlies back to Vancouver then expand with Seattle and Vegas and make the Wolves and Pelicans Eastern Conference teams

or they could add a team to Nashville, Kanas City or Santa Fe New Mexico then they don't need to move Western conference teams

[–] Blink3412@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Would straight up love it if the grizzlies came back to Vancouver, I remember growing up and having 2 Canadian teams the Toronto Raptors and the Vancouver Grizzlies, I was greatly saddened by the sudden move.

[–] ForgottenSon2@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Take Toronto next. Start your own league in Canada.

[–] hecht0520@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Give the Kings back to Rochester while we're at it.
