I am 20 years old and my business has tanked.

I have $300 left to my name and I need to start cash flowing as fast as humanly possible.

My plan is to get back into sales cash flow 5-10k per month then roll that money into entrepreneurial ventures

I have two years of sales experience -Tech SDR -logistics AE -selling my own offer (small business SAAS)

My question is: What type of sales should I pursue

  1. Tech sales
  2. Commission only High ticket closing for personal brand offers (coaching, courses, etc)

I really dislike the corporate space but I know I could land a pretty high paying tech sales job fast with my resume.

High ticket sales is what I really want to do but the barrier to entry is much greater. It’s all about who you know, networking and would take time that I don’t have

What should I do. By this time next month I NEED to be making 5k minimum per month

If I had $300 left I would give $30 to a orphanage and watch that $30 turn into $300. Like I do every week everytime I give it comes back multipled

A friend of mine works for SAP Concur (I think that's the name of the company), but hated his first position there because it was mostly cold calling. However, he loved the paycheck which was about $8-10k per month before taxes. It took him about 6 months to get to that. But I'll also say, he was exceptional at sales, whether it was in person, phone, or virtual. It took him a little more than a year and a half to be promoted from that position.

With that said, if you only have $300 to your name, get any job you can right now and start putting money in your bank account so you won't be worrying about paying bills, feeding yourself, etc. It's impossible to think about other needs when the basic ones aren't taken care of. Then while you're working the stop-gap job, you can look for ones you actually want. Even outside of holiday, the Target and Costco in my area has been looking for employees. I think Target was starting at $19/hr and Costco was $21/hr. I know it's not glamorous and you'll have to suck up your pride a little, but again it's a stop gap to take care of basic needs.

Anyway, I have friends in software, and medical device sales. They have been doing it forever, and while they bitch about their jobs they don't bitch about their checks. All of them make 6-figures. Then you can use your free time to grow your side-hustle, and hopefully one day it becomes your full-time and grows huge and you have your own employees. At your age, you should be taking risks - but shouldn't be putting all your eggs in one basket either.

Just remember, you don't always have to love what you do, as long as it allows you to actually do the things you love. And in the process, you might discover the self-employed life isn't for you, and that's okay.

Good luck and post updates on your journey!

Both of the sales industries you mentioned are meme jobs at this point. SAAS is nosediving right now , a lot of lay offs and almost impossible to get hired. For high ticket sales … you most likely will waste your time and make no money. I doubt you’ll be able to go from no sales experience to one call closing a $5k bullshit online course.

Remindme! December 30th how things are going.

If you have $300 in the bank, you suck at sales, no matter what you tell yourself. I'm looking to hire a sales person but you are so bad at sales I'd never hire you, based on this post.

Go get a job.

I need someone to make a minimum of two sales. Guaranteed commission is $3,500. Non Guaranteed commission is $1,000,000.

You got more than I got and my only plan was to write a book lmfao. Just do whatever floats your goat. Life gives us what we need.

I've never understood these targets: "I need to hit X by time Y". They never take into account the system you are working with, the actual harmony of the methodology you use and your genuine happiness in the process.

What if you don't hit that target? Will the world end, or will your ego collapse? You don't have money, go get a job. There is no shame in working, the economy is driven by it, we all survive due to people working. When I had 100$ in my pocket, I went to work for restaurants, and I was 22 at that time.

Consider going back to school or taking an entry level position while going to school to actually learn about what you're selling.

People who just go 100% sales and have no idea what they're actually selling are insufferable to work with.

Did you go to school? Go get a badass degree so that you can make a lot of money and get expertise in a cool field (ideally something STEM/Tech) .. master the field, save your money.. then either start a company or go be a badass sales guy for a product in a field that you 100% know in and out and 100% advocate for. You’re 20, you’re still extremely young. Get the degree and get some complexity/knowledge/skill under your belt.

Peace!

If you have the experience to land those jobs I'd start applying like crazy and do instacart while you wait to build funds back up

Well there's your first problem, you're delusional.

You were doing good a few months ago, what happened?

[–] AccomplishedLimit313@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Not that experienced with business, but I would recommend that you should get a stable job with income that is coming in reliably. Create courses on your knowledge and promote it as much as you can on sites where people actively look for certain skills such as Udemy, skillshare, etc. Then I would say have a side hustle service-based business that works around your job schedule and has a low start up and makes decent money. If you already have a car, this may not be the best option because of gas prices, but Uber is something that you can work throughout the night because there are workers that need transportation during these times. I’m getting into window cleaning because the start up isn’t too bad either. That way you have 3 different streams of income that can be made with 1 being a stream one where you don’t have to be there physically. When you need it, money will come if you work hard.

Stop worshipping money and be grateful for what is right in front of you. Doing that, and I mean REALLY doing that, should point you in the right direction, whatever that might be.

“$300 left” “I can land a high paying tech job” You just said the answer yourself

Go buy a power, washer and canvas neighborhoods asking if they want you to clean off their dirty driveway or whatever pathway, etc. You could even start landscaping with a cheap lawnmower and cheap weed trimmer
