For all the flack the Liberals got for this, is this a political win? $100 million in yearly payments seems pretty good

And it's pocket change for Google, to be honest.

The internet should just be nationalized and treated no different than the water supply or water treatment system.

It's a service that's required and depended on by the public now .. and in many instances is the system that is depended on for public safety.

On top of all that, the internet and social media is directly influencing government, elections and the public perception on every issue.

The one service in our lives that has the most profound effect on our lives ... and it's all in the control of private interests that are profiting from it all.

Don't forget that most internet infrastructure is already heavily subsidized by public money, especially when rolling out to rural communities. It's even officially classified as a utility.

That's like saying that the government provides the empty pipework but the actual water should be supplied and controlled by Nestle who will set the price, quality and quantity of water they will give you.
