Joe, you have a large platform, and Fuck You money, and can say or do anything that you choose. You could turn your entire listening base back to the light if you felt like it.

Nice of you to finally acknowledge reality, but you've got a lot more heavy lifting to do. You're not the enemy of my enemy just yet.

Not quite.

Unidentified masked armed thugs snatching people off the street without due process and shipping them off to gulag (sometimes in a completely unrelated country) is wrong even if the people are criminals.

Criminals also have rights worth protecting.

What a useful idiot.

If only someone warned us about uncle Joe ahead of time, like around 2020 when his platform grew exponentially due to COVID misinformation.

They thought that meal team six would have balls to go after someone who might fight back?

Rule: If you vote for a politician, the bad things they say could happen regardless of how much you don't like the bad things.

The really fucking stupid thing about his reasoning quoted there is that there’s already a fuckton of legislation like RICO to take down gangs. You don’t need ICE for that, just get the police to their job.

Do you think they can tell the difference when they only understand moral panics?

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 24 points 2 days ago (3 children)

How did so many people get fooled by him when he'd already been president and was just like this for four years‽

[–] SaraTonin@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

For a serious answer WRT the people who genuinely didn’t think this administration would act the way it is - in his first term, he was mostly surrounded by people who were competent and who respected the law & checks & balances. When they got told “kidnap people off the streets” they said “I can’t do that, that would be illegal”.

So the fact that these things weren’t done in the first term made people think they wouldn’t be done in the second term.

Couple that with the fact that the vast majority of people are incredibly uninformed about politics.

Not that we didn’t know this already, but anybody that says this kind of shit immediately loses all credibility. It was 100% obviously bullshit when they said it. Just like getting Mexico to pay for the wall. Or Trump having a healthcare plan. It was all 100% bullshit.

[–] titanicx@lemmy.zip 15 points 2 days ago (3 children)

It's Joe Rogan, he lost credibility about 15 years ago.

They are: to them, anyone brown is a criminal. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–] AWistfulNihilist@lemmy.world 23 points 2 days ago (4 children)

For anyone not following things like elephant graveyard on YouTube, this shit is a face saving attempt for them.

Both him and Duncan Trussel are getting hammered by parts of their audiences for not only full throated support of Trump, but actually using their platforms to boost the shit. Same with Theo Von and a few of these other fucking clowns.

Duncan Trussel is famously the person in a space suit telling Rogan people are going to manipulate and use him. This shit is clownshoes.

I hope Joe is held accountable in the trials to come as well.

[–] fodor@lemmy.zip 12 points 2 days ago

No, Joe, you didn't. You are doped pit, but your brain isn't that destroyed. You knew, just as we all did.
