Hiked 10/15/25

Located along the eastern rim of Linville Gorge, this short hike is all uphill leading to a fantastic view of the gorge and nearby Table Rock Mountain. While the hike is minimal, I think it has the best view of the gorge in the area and can be done in conjunction with others. Parking fills fast.

Charlotte Skyline at dawn with the foothills of North Carolina stretching out before it.

Table Rock Mountain being kissed by early morning sunlight with the trees of Hawksbill Mountain lit in the foreground.

A view of the fog pouring out of its resting place on the western edge of Linville Gorge at sunrise.

Wow, that's some amazingly good visibility to be able to clearly see the Charlotte skyline out there.

Yeah, I knew it was possible with no haze, but I did not expect it to be that good. Once the sun got a little higher though it turned into a blob and then disappeared completely by around 9am.
