..good thing I don't buy junk kitchen gadgets like the obvious peice of garbage in the image they posted. It looks cheap AF and I'd be surprised if any of them are even working past 12 months.

I'm always surprised at the obvious garbage people buy because it's 'cheap'.

The item in the article looks like obvious garbage, but a lot of new products that look premium also turn out to be garbage.

What do you recommend? We got a Zwilling blender, works well but it's not the best design, we broke it already and warranty covered it, but it was a slow and painful process.

How much do you want to spend? Vitamix is solid if you go new, something like Hobart if you want to get a real pro grade one. You can probably find a used one for cheap.

Wouldn't a blender need to get CSA approval? What goes into getting that? Is it just a review of schematics or do they actually need to do testing of some sort?

It's probably ETL approved, which is a way easier certification to get.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

BlendJet is recalling millions of portable blenders over laceration and fire hazards after receiving dozens of reports of injuries, U.S. regulators said Thursday.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) says the recall covers about 4.8 million blenders in the U.S. and about 117,000 were sold in Canada.

Regulators urged consumers to stop using the recalled blenders immediately and contact BlendJet for a free base unit replacement.

To receive the replacement part, customers will need to remove and cut up the base's rubber seal and email or upload a photo using BlendJet's website

Consumers can also confirm whether or not their blender under recall by furnishing product information on BlendJet's website or contacting the company.

According to the CPSC, the recalled BlendJet Portable Blenders were sold between October 2020 and November 2023 online, and in stores at retailers including Costco, Walmart and Target.
