As an exclusive campaign single player, I say every and all multiplayer is trash garbage. Games are strictly entertainment for something to enjoy. Winning is irrelevent, the experience is what's important.

I only buy games that have a story campaign with replay value and I refuse to do any online multiplayer. I don't feel better for beating other people, it's nothing more than a game. People are not interested in how many times someone else wins at video games, it's only a hobby. People who cheat in games are losers who have nothing outside, going out with friends to enjoy.

Honestly I focus my game time to singleplayer because I can play on my schedule, and my schedule is mostly defined by my kids.

Ain't got time to dedicate to multiplayer.

Kids must be the first priority, all day everyday. Games come when you have the time, and if you're not able to play for 3 weeks, that's how life goes as a good parent.

Competitive play used to be fun, but like so many things it was pushed to extremes and taken out of the world of being fun as the end in itself into league plays and people that take it too seriously, to the point people that play 18 hours a day get a fan base instead of therapy.

As someone formerly on the Halo side, the gaming world seemed to turn to shit after Reach.

There are bots that can challenge and destroy any human player, there are as you say single player experiences, so I also don't see the point in engaging with the toxicity of modern multiplayer, except with irl friends.

I have nothing to say about people who go out to places together sometimes also playing together in a game occassion, all fine and well.

Multiplayer with random whoever happens to be online at the time, that's the stuff I call entirely useless and pointless.

Every and all people who can play games for a consistent 12 to 18 only have a screwed future ahead of them. 3 to 4 hours of games can be a great time, 18 straight hours of gaming, that person has emotional problems.

Would you agree that games are simple entertainment, not a goal in life, to one day get good a specific game for multiplayer?

I usually enjoy online multiplayer because it’s always a different and unpredictable experience. Keeps it fresh. I don’t really feel competitive when I play against other players. The key is to play casually, and disable voice chat. There’s never anything of value in random voice chat, only the contrary. And if cheaters show up, just exit and do something else.

That said, if you find yourself feeling very strongly about how you think the other players might feel when they win or lose, then I agree it’s probably a good idea to just avoid multiplayer or any other environment you perceive as toxic and unhealthy.

I mostly don't play multiplayer, but some games just aren't the same single player.

Madden, for example, the AI just is too complex for them to handle it at a high enough level for the balanced but competitive strategy game football can be. All Madden is hard, but it's hard by cheating. Playing against humans is how you get the chess match. I'm sure there are various other genres focused on strategy that are similar. AI can beat advanced humans in clean games like chess or go, but probably not on a PS5 and not with messier strategy games.

What goes wrong with a person for them to get cheat software because they are so determined to win rather than either practice and develop their skill or accept the fact that they don't have what it takes to win a specific game, and be comfortable with the possibility that game is not for them? The second someone attempts to cheat or hack in a video game, they have immediately proven themself to be a complete loser.

Flying around seems like something that would add a lot of replay value to a multiplayer game

There are a lot of ways that cheats can be fun, in previous CODs you had new game modes and new maps/new areas by removing collision
