Given the circumstances I believe most people would do the same at least on a federal level.

Why rock the ship with any significant changes when the vast majority voters only seem to vote to 2 parties. No matter how terrible of a job you do you're always at worst next in line for the job.

I think the bigger issue is that a lot of politicians are landlords or investment property owners so there is a direct conflict of interest in fixing these issues.

People have abused systems way more for less benefits.

I'm surprised more Liberals and Conservatives MP's don't abuse things more given that it seems to make little difference to them getting elected.
