Boost For Lemmy

When I make a comment on a post, no matter how I type it up, it always just shows up as one paragraph.

Is there something that I am doing wrong?

1: now I'm also wondering what it does to a post so... 2: I'm splitting up this sentence like it was bullet points

Edit: Spacing seems to be the difference, but I still feel like I shouldn't have to skip lines to start new lines.

This started with the most recent update and happens on all text posts. I can't see behind images or the comments though.

Edit: here's how this post looked after posting

When looking at All and sorting by Top (hour, day, week, etc.) it goes blank when telling it to refresh.

Under General -> Comments, the options to Show Parent or Show Thread seems to enable the other setting.

When the Show Parents setting is selected, the Show Thread option is actually the one that appears within fly-out that appears when selecting the hamburger menu on comments, and vice versa.

[POSSIBLE ENHANCEMENT REQUEST] I seem to remember when using Boost for Reddit, that when you clicked on Show Parent and the parent comment was shown, there was the ability to click another ^ that would then display that comment's parent, and you could continue doing that until you reached the top of that comment thread. This would be great to have again.

Hi all, and thanks in advance! As the title states, I can not find the ^ button for showing parent comments even though I have selected the Setting, under General -> Comments.

I think Boost should show both positive and negative scores on posts, comments. On this platform it matters.

BTW unlike the populist, commercial platform you can't really censor whatever you don't agree. Which is a good thing.

Hi there, I recall on Boost for Reddit that I could open a post, and collapse comment threads to a single line, which was excellent - it made it really easy to scroll past comments I've already read or decided I'm not interested in, and I might be wrong but I think there was an option to auto-collapse everything but new comments? On Lemmy, replies are collapsed but the comment I tapped on remains open, regardless of whether it's the top of a comment thread or one mid-conversation. So best I can collapse to is a post and all of its top-level comments.

The other one is that on Reddit I was able to create a group and add subs to it. That group would appear in my sidebar, and when opened it'd be a feed of those subs without needing to join each one (which makes 'Subscribed' really busy). On Lemmy I can add favourites to the sidebar, but they show up in the list individually - I'd like for example to have a single entry in that list called Home Tech, when I tap it I get a feed of only home automation or homelab stuff. Then another one just for memes. Etc

If these settings already exist and I've just missed them please let me know, otherwise I'd really appreciate if they could be added to BfL.

Minor bug, it's a bit jarring when it happens.

It doesn't happen every time, but it's specifically when you scroll past the top comment. It jumps me to the heading for 'section 4' in the post.

My guess was that it has something to do with the images or the length of the post

Lemmy supports alt text for images by adding quoted text after the url for the image tag. it would be nice if the image button could have the option for uploading or using an external link and a caption field so you can automatically add alt text too.

i know you can just edit the bbcode after its done but not a lot of people know about it and it could be a good way to expand the use of alt text on images in lemmy :)

Hello everyone, new to Boost, I am coming over from Connect. I am really liking the experience so far but I had a few of questions about it.

I have been through the settings and could not find it and I wanted to know if there is a way to have the image lead a post in card view. I mean have all the information, title, everything shown after the image while you are scrolling?

Can you set your default scroll to All? I was able to make it Hot but it always goes back to Subscribed when I come back to the app.

Is there a way to subscribe to a community without having to visit it? You can block a community from the ellipses but I cannot find a subscribe.

Is there a way to completely disable thumbnails? They show up even in dense mode.

GIFs in most posts aren't moving. Some load like videos and play though. Any ideas?

It really annoys me and I can't know if it's the app or my phone OS. Everytime I change activities on my phone, boost seems to reboot itself and just go to the start of the posts feed, and it is really annoying

Boost user since before the Reddit exodus here. A long while ago I paid to support Boost on Reddit and receive no ads, I was wondering if there was a way to transfer that status to here.

Using Boost for Lemmy, I got an obvious political ad from the right asking to sign a petition to scrap the gun "ban" in Canada (it's a registry not a ban).

Now I understand this is an ad but I don't appreciate having propaganda from the right injected into my browsing on lemmy. Have better ads, or let us report them.

Apologies if I'm missing something obvious here, 😅 I saved a comment I'd like to go back to the other day but don't recall exactly what it was (darn my poor ADHD memory), and so I wanted to scroll through my saved/favourited comments to find it.

When I go to the "Saved" tab it lets me scroll through saved posts, but I can't find any way to switch to scrolling through saved comments, so I'm not sure how I'd go about finding them?

When clicking on links in comments, I wish that instead of opening the link immediately it would give a sort of context menu so you can at least see where the link goes to or maybe copy/ share the link.

It's incredibly annoying clicking on embedded links to YouTube/ other apps, getting yanked out of Boost and having to close the video, back out of YouTube, reopen Lemmy... All for a link I never would've opened had I been able to see it.

But opening the link in a web browser correctly shows all the other discussions
