After rumours galore, the writer, who helmed the BBC sci-fi from 2010 to 2017, will officially make his return for Ncuti Gatwa's season.

Moffat said of his return: "Yes, OK, fair enough – apologies to everyone I've very slightly misled – I am in fact writing an episode of the series of Doctor Who. Exactly like I said I never would. What can I tell you?

"There was begging, there was pleading but finally Russell agreed to let me have another go – so long as I got out of his garden. Working with old friends and a brand new Doctor I couldn't be happier.

"Sorry I was a bit reticent on the subject for so long. It was all part of an elaborate plan that would have delighted millions but at the last minute I forgot what it was."

Think grown-up British drama in the Misfits, The Power and Heroes vein, but specifically exploring Black British perspectives on the superpower genre.

Speaking to Deadline in August 2022 Rapman explained where his show would differ from Marvel and DC superpower stories:

“If I got powers, my first thing wouldn’t be to go and buy a spandex outfit. I was thinking ‘What can I use my powers for to put my family in a better position?’ As much as I love Marvel and DC you know it’s going to work out in the end but in our story you just don’t know what’s going to happen because it’s a grounded superpowers show. They are hero characters but they’re all very flawed.”

TalkTV will be taken off air in the summer and move online, it has been announced, weeks after Piers Morgan left his daily show on the channel.

Morgan said he was leaving to focus on the Uncensored YouTube channel, saying that daily, fixed TV schedules had been “an increasingly unnecessary straitjacket”.

A statement from Scott Taunton, TalkTV’s president of broadcasting, said in a briefing to staff: “Two years ago, we would not have been brave enough to launch a channel without a linear presence, but audiences of all ages have moved fast and smartphones are now the primary device where news is consumed. We need to adapt to this as a priority.

“We are therefore intending that Talk comes off linear television from early summer and our focus will be on streaming.”

The Government of Jersey has been asked for £1.8m to fund a remake of BBC detective series Bergerac.

Based in and depicting Jersey, Bergerac aired from 1981 to 1991 - featuring John Nettles as detective Jim Bergerac.

It is hoped a remake of the hit series would attract more visitors to the island.

Robert Mackenzie, from the Channel Islands Travel Group, said: "I think any publicity of this type is to be welcomed.

"When a destination is featured in a drama programme, it does draw attention to it, it does raise interest in the destination, and I'm sure that as a result of Bergerac being re-filmed, it will attract more people to come to the island, I'm absolutely certain about that."

Chief Minister Lyndon Farnham said the investment was "being considered", but said he would need to go to the Council of Ministers on the matter.
