Hi, I have a mastodon server, and trying to get the S3 bucket working for uploads, but I am getting an error that ACLs are not enabled.

But I have another installation where the same settings work

also, I am able to manually sync all the images using aws cli, but mastodon is throwing the error

anyone can help with this?

What does "LSC" stand for? I saw someone advertising instances like Aethy as an example for "LSC friendly fediverse".

LinkedIn and other popular social sites are offering more options to verify that work for more people in more geographies.

To build trust the Mastodon way, is to avoid surrender of private documents and rely on digital counterparts instead. Mastodon profiles already showcase verified links with a green checkmark because people trust more when they are able to confirm and share more pieces of their identity.

Unfortunately, this task requires technical expertise and the process isn’t easily portable to other Mastodon Instances.

Are you part of a community or running and instance that would be interested in a test of anti-fake profile software?

Does anyone have any stories of fraud or bad actors abusing their community they are willing to share?

I'm currently using Mastodon 2.2.1 for Android, and lately I have been seeing a lot of very long posts in my feed - like, 10,000+ characters.

Is there a way (or a different app) to truncate this automatically in my feed?

My account is set to automatically allow users to follow me. But I got two accounts I had to approve. It said at the top of the "follower request" that although my account is not locked Mastodon.social staff want you to approve these users manually. Does this happen with suspicious accounts? I'm just curious.

To make a long story short. I guess, I failed at migrating the database before installing the upgrade (for reasons). Now everything is broken.

I have a backup of ma database and my production file, though from earlier this day.

Can I just "roll back" to 4.1.5, restore the database and re-do the procedure properly? Or do I have to reinstall 4.1.5 from scratch?

Anyone else?

Can you appeal when you think your account has been unfairly suspended. On universeodon, which recently switched to a server/admin in the UK, (and that country has become rather fascist about censoring when it comes to news about Gaza)

I’m a daily reader of toots using the Ivory client on an iPad. Today I got my first ever “Server Failure”.

Anything I can do? Or just wait?

I started to really build my following on Mastodon when Twitter fired their accessibility team, which was the same time as all the other Twitter disasters that drove people away. However, I had it really easy: I'm blind, in the blind community, and follow lots of others in that community, so I just needed to look through people's followers and shout about my username and instance, and everything came together. I have people who have expressed interest in joining but who are not blind or part of any other specific community like that; they just want to check it out. I'm not really sure what that's like, and not sure what to recommend to them either. Are there some hashtag lists anywhere so people can find posts/users that align with whatever they might be interested in? How do "normal people" find their people?

I've just started to use social.vivaldi.net and the the three columns fill my 1920x1080 screen.

Perhaps one day all instances will do this.

A few questions and apologies if they have been answered before:

- Any resources to read on how the federated toots work?

- Are there any tools to visualize how my toots reach (or not) other instances or users?

- Is there a 'view profile as' option that I can use to see if a specific user can see what I post?

I'm part of an instance based on my interests, but I can easily see my self being part of a couple more instances.. what is the best way to reach these other instances? Is making multiple accounts and boosting my original toots an option? Will boosting a toot as part of an instance make it visible to all the members of that instance?

I was looking around my "Account Settings".

I found two reports about posts being removed.

I was never notified( mastodon.social ). Is there a setting I can change so that I am notified in the future?

I also couldn't find a link to the offending posts.

When you click on the sign-up button you end up back on the explore page. We (the real admin and my noob self) cannot figure out what is happening. Any leads?

Hello, I'm a heavy RSS feeds user and I group my RSS in topics/channels/views.

Is it possible to do this in a specific Mastodon client? I would like to be able to put specific accounts I follow as well as specific hashtags into such a view/channel on my client.

Example: general/local news, specific community, etc.

Is this a normal thing to happen? I enjoy looking back at the posts I've liked in the past, but have noticed that while posts from users on our instance last forever, federated posts vanish after two weeks. I asked the admin and they weren't familiar with the issue, and I haven't seen any documentation discussing it. Is this a common thing, or should I switch instances?

I’ve been looking around for a solution on why GIFs from Gboard are failing to be added on posts from the phone. Unfortunately I’ve only found old entries on GitHub and web searches with no answer.

Just wanted to check in with the community here to see if anyone else ran into this problem and might have a answer. I’ve tested this with the latest versions of Mastodon’s official android app and Tusky’s from a Pixel 6 phone with the same error. Server is on v4.2.1
