Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

More distractions while he and his brood steal billions and billions, and remove any means of prosecution for crimes, past, present, and future.

These aren’t distractions.

For one thing, he’s not that clever. There’s no plan to distract you. You’re giving him far too much credit.

For another, he really is this this big an idiot. He’s blundering through the government like a big fat toddler, just breaking shit at random. Stop making it sound like he’s a mastermind. What he’s doing is more dangerous than a plan, because nobody has defenses against this.

If he’s stupid what the fuck does that make the rest of us for allowing this? We voted in the guy that was supposed to prosecute and put him in jail… and they did everything but actually punish him!

Then that asshole wore a Trump hat right before the election.

So if he’s stupid, so are we. And worse, because we let him.

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 1 points 6 hours ago

Others in this administration are not stupid. Trump is not the one masterminding plans. He does whatever the last or loudest person in his ear tells him to do.

Also, it’s very important not to underestimate the power of stupidity and incompetence to fuck society.

Seriously, read this short article and tell me you can’t easily supplant trump’s name everywhere and it’s not uncanny:

Hitler Was Incompetent and Lazy—and His Nazi Government Was an Absolute Clown Show.

Plenty of first-person sources in the book.

Even if trump dropped dead today, this fascist movement wouldn’t stop. He’s a carnival barker and a genuine moron, chosen because he’s a social wrecking ball. But don’t mistake his blundering for 3d chess.

Remember the SCOTUS is giving too much power to a President. Precdent has been set, so let's vote for the next President that will use executive orders with as much abandon as ever, to claw back those billions. What we forget is that Trump is singular with his cutthroat aporach to thuggish-gangsta style "leadership" due to WHO taught him how to act: Roy Cohn, who is now dead and no one can replicate. JD Vance will be eaten alive by the Senate, and the Mitch McConnells are tottering on their graves and "capitalism" has become so toxic to families in it's late (or end-) stage form, that social problems won't be fixed by it, leading to political ones. Mamdani isn't an outlier.. he's the slowly arriving future.

I don’t give a fuck about precedent, laws, or any bullshit people come up with to fuck us in the ass “legally”. I want swift harsh justice to be served on everyone in the federal government. At this point, they all need jail for not putting the fucking traitor in jail.

[–] matthurtme@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

I've been hoping for something like this for my whole sad ass 40 year old life. Reagan fucked everything up for my entire life. I have never been happy, safe or had any security, EVER

[–] rauls5@lemmy.zip 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I sure hope so. My wish is that they curtail presidential powers to an almost ceremonial level. No immunity, no pardons, no executive orders. While in office and direct or indirect income other than the presidential salary should be relinquished and full public availability of tax and business records will be a requirement.

I think that no government worker should be making anymore money than the minimum wage. Watch the minimum wage suddenly become liveable then.

[–] foodandart@lemmy.zip 1 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

No elected government worker.. I'm not down with bridge and safety inspectors or air traffic controllers making minimum wage, no matter how "just" it seems - for a millisecond. Let the judges and elected officials have the minimum wage - WTF, it's not like they're not already millionaires by the time they get into office.

[–] architect@thelemmy.club 1 points 7 hours ago

Do you want the minimum wage to rise or not? Some regular people will need to suffer.
