We grew corn when I was a kid, first time growing it myself. Impluse bought a few stalks to throw into the garden bed, and now this corn is bringing me a lot of joy. Grow corn, Grow!

Is this a thing? A saying?

cuz it's to my hip! I am short, but yes :)

It's definitely a saying in Minnesota. One of my friends said it to me about my corn today. It's above knee high.

It used to be a thing but thanks to the removal of Spring here in NY it's usually hip to shoulder high and the second/late crops are going in he ground soon i think.

Obviously it depends on how fast your corn grows and your growing season. Shoulder high by Fourth of July still has a nice ring to it
