VII was the second RPG I ever played and the first I ever beat (super Mario RPG I'll beat you one day damnit!). It'll always have a place in my heart despite the fact that Ultimecias is a pretty crappy villain and the whole time compression plan seems to have no actual purpose beyond, "I'm evil, so I do evil thing"
She is a hard fight too. Give the Switch remake of Mario rpg a try. It’s really good.
Oh the fight was sick for sure, and "The Extreme" is still one of the coolest boss themes I've ever heard
And it'll happen one day. Years ago I used an emulator to get most of the way through but a bad save screwed me in the home stretch of the return to bowsers castle.....one day man....one day
