This is something that I have thought about for awhile but I think that athletes in general have a very skewed view of what they do and their abilities. It might be that you have to be able to think this way to make it to the nba. It is such a longshot that you have to think you are capable and responsible for anything. What are some of the most out there quotes?
This is the quote that brought this idea back to my attention:
“It’s like the girlfriend that you used to have,” Brooks said of the Grizzlies this season without him. “You don’t know how good she is until she’s gone. "
-Good on Brooks for = believing in himself but I think he thinks he is A or B tier even though he has been struggling badly on offense.
An oldy but a goody :
Sprewell saying " I have a family to feed.” and turning down $21 million only to be offered $5 million exceptions, which he also turned down and basically "retired" out of the league.
"I'm your favourite player's favourite player" -Beasely
"Before the game I signed like 100,000 autographs, I'm kissing babies and what not and all that stuff. I'm getting my hand kissed by people; I got little girls come up to me, fainting. Once the game started, it was like, 'What the hell is going on?' I was like, 'This is weird. Did they take all the good people out? ... I don't worry about it anymore. I don't want to sound super weird, but Jesus was hated, too. At the end of the day, I just worry about the stuff that's important. If it makes you happy to boo me, go ahead. I'm still happy. I put all that stuff behind me." - Evan Turner
