I don't think there will a "year" of the Linux desktop. The climb to take over will take more than a year. A "Decade of the Linux Desktop" seems more apt and I think this is it. 2020-2030 will be this change. SteamOS and Proton has bridged the Gaming gap and entry level for average users so well and it's only going to get better.

Exactly, there was a huge change in attitude and since then every year is a year of the linux desktop
