Try to use the remote from the other side of the door and it probably won't work.

I'd say an ESP32-C6 with an NRF24L01 and some custom code would probably work as a bridge. The ESP32-C6 (and H2) can do Thread. And the NRF24 blast out 2.4GHz signals. I have no clue how Tread and Matter work, though. If it's HASS, it's probably easier to skip all the Thread and Matter stuff and write some ESPHone component and forward it over Wifi. Basically an RF bridge. But seems like it's a major coding and soldering project.
I'd check that as well. I've had remotes which just hid the IR diode behind some plastics, I had assumed they were RF, but that wasn't the case. Also there's at least two other ISM Bands, could be 2.4GHz or 433MHz or maybe 868MHz in products meant for Europe. They're usually required to disclose the frequency in the manual or on the packaging, or on some sticker. I'm not sure. Once that kind of information is missing, use it as an opportunity to double-check it's not IR.
