Finished When Moon Hits the Eye by John Scalzi.

The book is divided so that each chapter is a new day, and it's from perspective of new people. So there is no story of certain people, rather it's about the "event" and we see things from different people's point of view throughout the book.

I didn't know that, so it took some getting used to, but once I had come to terms with that it was a very interesting book.

Highly recommended for soft sci-fi fans.

I just finished The Reversed Centaur’s Guide to Life by Cory Doctrow a few minutes ago. The central argument is that when a technology exists that makes a human better in a way, that makes the human a centaur (part human, part tech — the usual term for this would be cyborg, but that’s not as funny). What we have now in the age of AI though, Doctrow argues, are a bunch of techs that ride humans to get better. It’s not an anti AI book per se, but does a good job of pointing out how easy it is to fall into the trap of supporting a system that offers nothing in return.
