Just blocked lemmy.ml from my Lemmy account, and I swear to god it's one of the best things I've ever done on this platform. My homepage feels actually clean now.

For the past few months I'd been seeing a lot of tankie posting and pretty much far-left propaganda on my feed. It got tiring enough that I finally checked my blocked-user list, and realized pretty much everyone I'd blocked was from lemmy.ml. So I just blocked the whole instance instead.

Saying this as someone who considers themselves a leftist: I used to think Lemmy itself was an echo chamber. Turns out lemmy.ml was the problem the entire time. Probably the reason I tolerated it for so long is that I agreed with a lot of what they posted, but like an oversaturated meme, I'd had enough. Browsing the platform was starting to feel way too tiring instead of fun, which defeats the point of being here in the first place.

The breaking point was seeing some dude post a "meme" implying North Korea and China are basically communist utopias and that the West sucks. I mean, the West does suck, but come on - you're saying North Korea is the ideal the West should strive for? What the hell...

Yeah because Lemmy is so important that Russia and China need to astroturf it, lol. Maybe people have different views and understanding of the world than yours? Not everything is fucking propaganda.

I don’t think Russia and China target Lemmy. I think a lot of people on Lemmy have been kicked off other platforms for blindly buying into foreign propaganda just because they hate the US.

It’s propaganda when you post memes about how the Tiananmen Square massacre didn’t happen.

No one should be believing 100% of anything that any government says. Not the US. Not China. Not Russia. Not South Korea or North Korea.

You're saying their are governments you should trust 100% about everything?

Or that you disagree with him when he says he doesn't think the countries China and Russia are targeting Lemmy?

Because if you believe either that's actually insane.

More likely you got butthurt because he said all you crazy fucks got banned from other public spaces so naturally congregated to one that only bans people that disagree with you.

I know how it works because here (on this instance) you can't just ban folks for "imperialism" when they prove you wrong you have to be forced to actually deal with it and cry.

That's why I suggested to go back to your comfortable echo chamber where you might have an easier time not having to see different opinions. This must be a horrible experience for you out here.

Your entire instance is. Also you seem to think I'm the OP of this post? I haven't blocked anyone except for one user and it was because of cartoon CP they posted in the self hosted community.

I think its fun watching idiots try to make sense about the world its like going to the zoo or something. Gives the federation experience some flair.

don't need to be an astroturfer to do this. lots of people who genuinely push their beliefs use propaganda to push it.
