I disagree with the headline.
The QB is THE most important position in sports for a reason. The Bengals are done because Burrow is hurt...he wasn't having a great season due to a slow start but that kind of thing highlights how critical the position is. The Ravens have crumbled without Lamar when he got hurt the last 2 seasons and missed some games.
My own team's SB chances last season were ultimately ended in PHI as soon as Purdy's elbow was destroyed.
The moment a team's starting QB gets hurt..their season is finished unless for some weird reason you get a really really good backup...and even that lowers expectations.
I also disagree with the "No QB deserves MVP this year" narrative..
Lamar, Stroud and Purdy have played at an objectively high level and one of them deserves the award depending on what you prefer:
1.Lamar- affects defenses in ways others QBs cannot...
Stroud- has probably elevated his team the most
Purdy- by far the best per throw stats of any QB this season on par with some previous MVP seasons.
MVP is supposed to be the player a team has no shot to win without...and that is always gonna be the QB
This could be the strongest argument for Myles tbh. If (if) the Browns keep winning with DTR or Flacco at QB it will be on the back of the defense playing lights out, and while they are legit at all 3 levels, Myles is clearly the absolute heartbeat of the team and will probably get some votes reflecting that.
Of course if the Browns bomb from here then he's got no chance, no matter how close he comes to the sack record.
