GEO gurus spent months telling brands to get on Reddit because ChatGPT loves it. Now citations drop 86% and suddenly the strategy is diversify. Amazing how quickly a growth hack becomes timeless marketing wisdom once the algorithm stops cooperating. Maybe building useful, credible information was the strategy all along. 🀷

Advertising on reddit was always a dumb move from the get go. They had to disable comments on ads because they didn't want people actually discussing products openly and freely. It was such a farce.

and there wernt that many ads to begin with. reddit just wants user metrics/data thier intereactions to sell. if they can keep people doomscrolling politics, sports, and news subs that is all that matters.

also googles gemini, and other AI is finding reddit less useful as the site is taken over by AI themselves/and botters, also because they ban people who would contribute with multiple accounts.

Ultimately, though, Google is all about something else: Google is currently promoting YouTube in its AI Overviews and on Gemini in general. So, for a change, it’s promoting its own service rather than, say, Reddit.
