You wouldnt have to create any account. You would type in their blog URL and scroll through a record of their updates and comments, no extra friction.

If they wanted to host their own forums, OpenID exists to let people use existing credentials. They could also embrace Steam's blogging and forums, as you said, which is better than Discord at least.
