Yeah but a quickly fireable offense. At least how it was 15-20 years ago they inventory the containers. So if you gave someone the wrong size your inventory would be off when you cashed out, you'd be gone by day 3. Now if someone ordered a medium and came back half way through the movie and you refilled it for them, no one probably would have ever cared. Same with drinks.

Aka in their eyes the empty tub holding the popcorn is worth $10, they couldn't care how much popcorn you gave them. (The managers got paid absolute shit as well, so they just want the numbers to be close enough that they also aren't in trouble)
