I just don't get it. Separating the art from the artist is not a black and white thing...Like a lot of people worked on the harry potter movies and many people fell in love with those before reading the books, and when Rowling went anti-trans, you could reasonably argue that the films were a collaborative work that you can still love. But this? A pre-configured Arch made by one guy who makes his headline presence maligning minorities? I don't see how giving money to him is anything other than a company saying his views are explicitly endorsed by the donor.
Even if we do separate the art from artist, what's the actual draw of this distro?
honestly, if it wasnt for lemmy i would have no idea the guy was racist. i just hear "ruby on rails creator has new distro thats easy to use".
And if it wasn't for your post I wouldn't know he created Ruby on Rails
I think after initial hyprland success showing what's possible, more similar window managers and desktop environments cropped up and that is the real benefit for all of us and that happened without omarchy. I'm currently on mangowc + DMS and I think it's better than hyprland.
