On Tuesday, B.C. Green Party MLA Rob Botterell announced he would step aside to allow party leader Emily Lowan to run in Saanich North and the Islands, a seat held by the Greens since 2017.
From the CBC story

Not a good look for the Greens when they push out a known electable MLA so that the leader can run in a safe seat and their former leader is running for CentreBC.

their former leader

He wasn't in the greens for 6 years. Andrew Weaver isn't the face of the greens forever.
