YSK Costco does independent testing of their meat.
YSK California has the most stringent food safety regulations in the country, going above and beyond what the fed requires. Thank fuck I live here and not somewhere that does the bare minimum required of them (which, rn, is doing nothing at all).
I don't want to like Costco, but they're making it really hard.
I don't like being in there, I don't like shopping in a damn warehouse. I hate the parking lot clusterfuck experience.
I do like that they curate a very good selection and they treat their employees well.
Why can't they just run a normal-scale grocery store?!
It could be argued that if they did, they might suck like the rest of them.
Personally, I hate needing to pay a god damn subscription in order to spend more money buying stuff at their store.
I felt the same way about a search engine, until I realized you're paying for curation, which is what makes it good.
Except for their own Kirkland Signature brand, they sell the same shit everyone else does but bigger. What curation?

Honestly my big Costco gripe is just that the sizes are awkward and big, but they aren't really selling to businesses anymore... So like why? It would make sense to me if I were buying like cases or something that could be resold. I have a small family, so it's always an exercise in creativity to use all of the produce and meat before it gets wasted. But if I bought less at a regular grocery store, I would almost always be paying more.
