Data Hoarder

We are digital librarians. Among us are represented the various reasons to keep data -- legal requirements, competitive requirements, uncertainty of permanence of cloud services, distaste for transmitting your data externally (e.g. government or corporate espionage), cultural and familial archivists, internet collapse preppers, and people who do it themselves so they're sure it's done right. Everyone has their reasons for curating the data they have decided to keep (either forever or For A Damn Long Time (tm) ). Along the way we have sought out like-minded individuals to exchange strategies, war stories, and cautionary tales of failures.

I found a video thats archived on WebArchive but when I try to play it, it says that an error has occured and that its not available for playback. I know its archived cuz when I scroll through the video i can see the frames. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Archiving modern websites is rather tricky. There are tons of servers involved and they often run some software themself. These are black boxes that cannot be archived without direct help from the web admins. For this reason, archived sites are often broken in some minor or major way.

Without a link, it is pretty hard to help you with your specific problem.

upon trying to download it with yt-dlp I got the error

ERROR: [web.archive:youtube] NE8YDj73zpE: The requested video is not archived, indexed, or there is an issue with web.archive.org (try again later)

So the file is most likely broken
