It is automation of the home, housework or household activity.

Home automation may include centralized control of lighting, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), appliances, security locks of gates and doors and other systems, to provide improved convenience, comfort, energy efficiency and security.

I have a smartthings hub 3 i bought a few years ago. I never got on with smartthings and it's lying unused.

I've recently been looking at aqara devices (motion sensors etc) that require an aqara hub, but i was wondering if i could skip their hub and just use the smartthings hub instead.

is that possible?

I just bought my first Aqara product and it actually has a setup directly in SmartThings. Brian, from "Automate Your Life" on YouTube did an in-depth list of Aqara devices that work with SmartThings a couple weeks ago. I've been using SmartThings for over 4 years and stayed away from Aqara because I won't used 3rd party hubs. Surprisingly, there are quiet a few devices that are supported directly.
