Home automation is the residential extension of building automation.

It is automation of the home, housework or household activity.

Home automation may include centralized control of lighting, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), appliances, security locks of gates and doors and other systems, to provide improved convenience, comfort, energy efficiency and security.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question so please don't flame me.

Looking to replace my set of Arlo 2 Pro cameras that have been dying one by one. I've been using them to put in locations where i set up mouse traps to verify mouse activity and set the traps up accordingly. The Arlo 2's are connected to a base station and i get free 7 days worth of storage in the "cloud".

They are located in areas where I dont have any ethernet run to such as the deck, shed, attic, etc, but are still connected to my wifi and base station. I move them regularly based on the mouse activity that i suspect and see.

I first looked into wyze v3 but then i noticed that there is no built in battery pack. and I don't want anything that requires a subscription if i can avoid it.

I guess i'm looking for something equivalent that has decent, or at least minimal battery life (7 days?) that can get activated when there's motion, and then send me notification and i can check out the recording? I'd prefer not to have to go and retrieve the SD card and put it in my computer as my attic is a real pain to get around in. I do two POE security cameras connected to blueiris and i could temporarily run long ethernet cables but i feel like there has to be a better solution out there.

Might want a trail cam rather than wifi camera. they are literally designed for this exact purpose.

I use both a trail cam and a Wyse wifi camera, I think it was $40
