Golden state owned the 14th pick and the 7th pick in the 2021 NBA draft. They selected Kuminga 7th overall. The 8th pick? Franz Wanger. They selected Moses Moody with the 14th pick. Two picks later Alperen Sengun was drafted. In 2020 they selected Wiseman over the likes of Lamelo. Not saying they’re stupid for drafting who they did because at the time it had merit. I’m just pointing to the fact that they could’ve had those players to help with this period but instead set themselves (probably) pretty far back with Kuminga, Moody, and not even wiseman anymore.

2020 draft was horrible for them.

They picked Wiseman over

There was so much debate about LaMelo because he would have been a great fit, but everyone was always emphasizing BPA. Maybe this is revisionist but I don’t recall there being that many analytics showing that was the case for Wiseman.
