Data Hoarder

We are digital librarians. Among us are represented the various reasons to keep data -- legal requirements, competitive requirements, uncertainty of permanence of cloud services, distaste for transmitting your data externally (e.g. government or corporate espionage), cultural and familial archivists, internet collapse preppers, and people who do it themselves so they're sure it's done right. Everyone has their reasons for curating the data they have decided to keep (either forever or For A Damn Long Time (tm) ). Along the way we have sought out like-minded individuals to exchange strategies, war stories, and cautionary tales of failures.

Good day folks.

I am seeking to take my PC to repairs recently, but I wish to move about 1TB worth of data.

And some of it, well honestly- most of it I’d like to archive. Perhaps I’d find it useful in the future, like videos I made, as well music, etc.

I’m the kind who finds it difficult to part with old data, and I like to revisit the past.

What do you think is the best way to archive about 1TB worth of data, and hopefully have it last for years to come?

I hear that external Harddrives and USB sticks are not made to last, and I did hear about M-Disc.

But is there perhaps a better option?

That's not what fragmentation or defragmentation means.
