A better reaction would have been to never mention it all .... classic Streisand effect ... or classic shitpost

Say or do something unexpected to agitate your opponent and make them cause enough of a reaction and activity to promote your platform.

If the MLA had never acknowledged it ... there would never have been a headline in the first place and fewer people would know about this activist.
